African Fashion Week Nigeria opens on a grand note
By Sewe Ishola,
The first day of the African Fashion Week Nigeria opened on a grand note, featuring designs from different parts of the continent, as well as models, who travelled far and wide to walk at the different shows.
The first designer to open the show was “Step Up”, who showcased some fine traditional African wears, which also included accessories, both for the ladies and home accessories in the form of throw pillows.
There there was the amazing pair of SOTH designers from Ile-Ife. Both are deaf but their work looks amazing. They even made mother-baby outfits. The audience loved their designs.
The second show was also filled with lots of interesting designs from the International Women Society Nigeria, designers, led by their President, Ego Boyo, who showed an outstanding fringey collection, which had the audience giving them a standing ovation at some point.
Then there was the Looks Like A Good Man collection, which truly showed designs that a trendy man would wear, from suit pieces to traditional outfits like Agbada, Babariga with detachable sleeves and more.
Leham Hassan for this collection, played a lot with the cape like designs and wowed the audience.
Other designers included Asake Oge, Swarovski for Daviva and others.
The government of Lagos state, the Ooni of Ile Ife and other dignitaries were present at the shows. Denrele Edun was also there in his Elegantebytiannah outfit.
