Actress, Uzo Aduba recounts the struggles of having her name mispronounced

By Patricia Uyeh,

Hollywood actress, Uzoamaka Aduba, known for her role as Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren on the Netflix original series ‘Orange Is the New Black’, spoke about some of her struggles living abroad. She revealed that she had to deal her name being mispronounced.

According to her,  she once told her mother to stop calling her “Uzoamaka” but call her ‘Zoe’ because no one could pronounce her Nigerian name.

Thinking her mother would entertain her suggestion, rather she insisted that if people could pronounce names like Michelangelo, Tchaikovsky and Dostoevsky, then they should also learn to pronounce her name.

That was then, now the beautiful actress says she is very proud of her name and won’t change it for anything in the world.
