By Sewe Ishola,

It’s definitely looking like a new era has started at British Vogue as the new editor-in-chief Edward Enninful takes over and we catch a glimpse of his first issue of British Vogue, which has British/Ghanaian model and feminist activist Adwoa Aboah on its cover.

The 25-year-old model shared the gorgeous cover on Instagram and revealed her excitement for the honour of being the first subject of the new editor, who also has a Ghanaian heritage.

Where do I even begin. Speechless, overwhelmed and grateful. Never in a million years did I think that one day I'd be on the cover of @britishvogue even more so one that marks such a monumental change and a new beginning. Thank you @edward_enninful I'm so very proud of you, you deserve this. Thank you for choosing me to be you're first cover girl. Thank you to #stevenmiesel for the most magical shoot I've ever been on. Mother @patmcgrathreal and @guidopalau for the constant support over the two day shoot and for making me feel like one in a million. To everyone who made this possible, thank you. #newvogue

A post shared by Adwoa Aboah (@adwoaaboah) on Nov 8, 2017 at 4:29am PST

On the cover, which was shot by seasoned Vogue photographer, Steven Meisel, Aboah is wearing a Marc Jacobs printed dress and turban with diamond earrings. Legendary makeup artist Pat McGrath was behind Aboah’s striking beauty look of bright blue eyeshadow and red lips.

Enninful also shared the cover on his Instagram as well as the vision for his first issue. “The inspiring @adwoaaboah on the cover of my first edition of @Britishvogue. The December 2017 issue is dedicated to Great Britain and the creatives who represent it at home and abroad. Welcome to the #NewVogue,” said Enninful.

Enninful has been very vocal about bringing diversity and inclusiveness to British Vogue, and if his first cover is any indication, then he is definitely walking the talk.
