Trend Alert: Unexpected Cut-Outs

By Yemisi Suleiman

From the subtly seductive to the daringly exposed, cut-out fashion trend is a matter of showing a hint of skin in an exciting way. Designers delivered a refreshing take on the trend with dramatic cut-outs which lend sculptural drama to the simplest dresses or tops as seen on the runways of the GTBank Fashion Weekend. No doubt, the less-is-more look is everywhere, with slashes, slits, and cutouts of a variety of geometric shapes finding their way from the runways to real way.
Ideal for a special occasion and fancy events, this cutaway clothing can easily transition from day to night and with celebrities making it look good, is enough reason to experiment with the idea ourselves, especially during this festive season.

Less is more

A small triangle cutout on a dress flashes just a slice of skin; it is the perfect eye candy for date night; no need to go overboard with the skin. The playful cutout on the side of a dress, lets you show off just the right amount of skin.

Cut-out fashion trend is one of the best means to highlight your best features and taking the attention away from your flaws. To highlight your shoulders, choose a dress with short or three-quarter sleeves that break free in the upper part of your body and keeping it on a loose fit on your bottom. Sticking to subtle cutouts on the arms, shoulders, and back is a safe way of introducing the trend to your style. Make use of these techniques to redefine sexiness more creatively and demurely.

Be Adventurous

If you’re feeling adventurous, you may pick more than three features of your assets like opting for a dress or jumpsuit showing off your shoulders, midriff, and thighs all at once. Just bring some blazer with you for covering up when you feel too daring or inappropriate for a casual setting.
