Nigerian teenager, Ruti Olajugbagbe emerges winner of The Voice UK

Nigerian teenager, Ruti Olajugbagbe, broke boundaries to win The Voice UK.
Under the tutelage of her coach, Tom Jones who has described her voice as ‘wonderful, magical and sincere’, Ruti beat runner up Donel Mangena in the finals on Saturday, April 7th.
Her winning earned her £100,000 prize money and a record deal with Republic Records.
The student, from the a resort town, Southend-On-Sea, England, broke down into tears after she was announced winner by the show’s host Emma Willis.
Before The Voice UK, Ruti performed covers of popular songs on her YouTube channel. Citing the bands Bastille, Artic Monkeys and artiste, Emeli Sande as her main role models, Ruti, who performed ‘Waiting For A Star’ by Boy Meets Girl at the semi-finals secured her the spot in the finals while her performance of her own song, ‘Dreams’ by The Cranberries, made her winner.
