Swaziland’s King 8th wife commits suicide
By Rita Chioma
One of the 15 wives of Africa’s last absolute monarch was buried yesterday after apparently taking her own life.
Senteni Masango, 37, who married King Mswati III of Swaziland in 2000, was found dead at her private palace before dawn on Friday. It is believed that she had been suffering from depression and last week had been banned by the royal court from attending the funeral of her sister.
The king’s wife is said to have taken an overdose of about 40 amytriptyline capsules. Amitriptyline is an antidepressant. Masango, a mother of two, married King Mswati at the age of 18.
