Social media platforms, while serving as conduits for global connectivity, also face the responsibility of ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for their users.

The dynamic and fast-paced nature of these platforms makes it challenging to manually monitor and respond to instances of cyberbullying and cyber attacks effectively.

Herein lies the crucial role of machine learning in automating the detection process and augmenting the platforms’ capabilities in creating a secure online space.

Machine Learning, a subset of artificial intelligence, equips systems with the ability to learn patterns and behaviors from vast datasets, enabling them to make informed decisions without explicit programming.
Applied to cyberbullying and cyber crime detection, ML algorithms can analyze linguistic nuances, image content, and user interactions to identify potential instances of harassment, thereby providing a proactive and efficient means of addressing the issue.

Artificial intelligence, with its adaptability and learning capabilities, is well-suited to navigate these challenges, continuously evolving and improving its detection accuracy over time.

Biodoumoye, a distinguished Digital Forensics Expert & Investigator, has seen how rapidly the social media landscape is evolving and how the prevalence of cyberbullying and other cyber related crimes has emerged as a significant societal concern and also recognizing its profound implications on the mental well-being and safety of individuals within online communities, she directs her research and dedication towards combating this pervasive cyber threats.

Firmly convinced of the transformative potential of artificial intelligence in revolutionizing digital forensics, Biodoumoye envisages a future characterized by unparalleled investigative precision and efficiency.

In her research work, Biodoumoye delves deeply into the complex side of cybercrime, presenting a methodological approach centered on leveraging pre-trained models such as DistilBert, LSTM, and BERT to name a few, for identifying cybercriminals.

This innovative methodology hinges upon the rigorous examination of criminal behavior and its correlation with distinctive characteristics, employing advanced techniques pertaining to data structure and parameters.
Emphasizing the escalating significance of digital forensics in uncovering criminal activities, her published research underscores the imperative for continuous advancements in forensic methodologies and tools. Central to Biodoumoye’s proposed strategy is the integration of multifaceted tools and techniques aimed at enhancing investigative efficacy.
From proficiency tests assessing technical acumen to a comprehensive repository of evolving criminal knowledge, each element is scrupulously designed to bolster investigators’ capabilities. Augmented with visual aids facilitating comprehensive case cognizance, this strategic framework epitomizes a holistic approach towards combating cybercrime and safeguarding digital integrity in an ever-evolving technological landscape.

Moreover, the published research underscores the potential advantages inherent in implementing this methodology within a cloud-based framework, heralding a paradigm shift towards a swifter and more cost-effective solution.
Embarking on her scholarly journey, Biodoumoye set out with the objective of building on the existing research efforts that had gone into developing methodologies of cyber crime profiling. Biodoumoye’s research, entitled “Deep Learning Assisted Cyber Criminal Profiling,” stands as a pioneering contribution within the field of criminal profiling, particularly focusing on the utilization of Artificial Intelligence. This distinguished work represents a noteworthy endeavor in capitalizing on advanced algorithms to facilitate the identification and categorization of cyber criminals.

The deployment of such sophisticated methodologies bears significant implications for law enforcement agencies and forensic investigation units, offering invaluable assistance in navigating the intricate landscape of cybercrime.

By harnessing the power of deep learning techniques, these innovations empower authorities with enhanced capabilities to effectively discern and prosecute cyber offenders, thereby bridging critical gaps in cybercrime investigation protocols and advancing the pursuit of justice in the digital realm.
Miss Bokolo says, the complexity of human language, the dynamic nature of online interactions, and the evolving tactics employed by cyberbullies present challenges in developing effective detection mechanisms.

In response, Biodoumoye pivoted their focus towards delineating specific profile points through a deep learning lens for criminal profiling, encompassing conscientious stages of Data Collection, Pre-processing, Data Visualization, and Model Design.
This concerted effort was geared towards fashioning an attack-agnostic deep learning model capable of discerning optimal matches within a given database. Following months of painstaking research and iterative experimentation with an array of machine-learning algorithms and techniques, Biodoumoye, finally developed a system that could accurately detect cyberbullying and she published several researches to that effect.

The system she built uses natural language processing (NLP) techniques to analyze social media posts and identify instances of cyberbullying. It then uses machine learning algorithms to classify these instances into different categories based on the severity of the bullying. It has the potential to make social media platforms safer for users around the world.
As with any technological solution, the use of machine learning in cyberbullying detection raises ethical considerations. Striking a balance between preserving user privacy and creating a secure online environment is imperative. ML models must be designed with transparency, accountability, and fairness in mind to avoid unintended biases or unwarranted intrusions into user privacy.

Biodoumoye commented on the integration of machine learning in cyberbullying detection not only holds promise for immediate impact but also sets the stage for ongoing research and development. She says a collaborative efforts between tech companies, researchers, and policymakers are crucial to refining existing models, addressing emerging challenges, and ensuring that the implementation of ML in cyberbullying detection aligns with broader ethical and legal frameworks.
The use of machine learning to detect cyberbullying on social media represents a pivotal stride toward fostering safer and more inclusive online communities.

By harnessing the capabilities of advanced algorithms, we stand on the brink of a transformative era where proactive measures can be taken to curb cyberbullying, creating a digital space that promotes positive engagement and protects the well-being of its users.
