Social media went haywire following the controversy surrounding the real age of Super Eagles goolkeeper, Francis Uzoho. The goalkeeper, who plays for Spanish club Deportivo de La Coruña became the subject matter of discussion and target of online trolls after declaring that he was 19 years old.
Many accused him of not declaring his real age as they felt he was way older than 19. Just earlier this week, a Facebook post surfaced online claiming the 19-year-old goalkeeper, who has been acknowledged as the youngest palyer as the ongoing 2018 World Cup, celebrated his second son’s 17th birthday.
Coming to the goalkeeper’s defense, ex- Super Eagles media officer, Colin Udoh took to Instagram to lambast those questioning Francis Uzoho’s age. After sharing a photo of Uzoho when he represented Nigeria at under-17 level at the age of 14, he wrote:
“To all you muppets going on about Francis Uzoho’s age, this is what he looked like in 2013 when he was a 14-year-old in the under 17 camp. Feel free to slap some sense into your own heads since looks is now a determinant for age.”
