By Patricia Uyeh
Nigerian Afropop artiste, Blackgold has joined th movement to condemn the activities of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad(SARS). He took to his Instagram page to recount his experience in the hands of the uniformed men.
He wrote:”I really funny how every young boy out there is assumed a yahoo boy smh
My experience today though!
“So I was driving today with my sister at ajah junction when SARS officials stopped us , funny enough they initially allowed us to pass o,just when they saw me at the passenger’s sit they quickly stopped us probably thinking I was a yahoo boy and my sister had already passed because one of the officers already said she should go.
“So when the other officer said she should stop because he saw me she refused and zoomed off because we already passed the junction and one of the officers already told us to go ,as we were driving thinking it was all over just for us to see them with their corolla chasing us like criminals I then told my sister to stop I went down and confronted them and asked why they were chasing us like criminals and one of them said if I talk he was going to slap me, I said why would you slap me what’s the problem and they started tagging us “criminals” while the other one said I’m a “yahoo boy” on the process of trying to talk to them one went straight to my sister’s tyre and started lessing the tyres and even threatened to shoot at us.
“In the process of stopping them they cracked gun at me if not for people around they probably would have shot at me and immediately they ran off after people came out and started screaming at them, please I’m calling on the @nigeriapoliceforce to look into this..it’s no longer a funny matter, not all young guys out there are fraudsters or yahoo boys ! Please get your facts straight before interrogating innocent citizens. I wouldn’t say #Endsars but #resructuresars. @segalink Thank you”
