Disciples of June 12 struggle, friends and family, at the weekend, gathered at the residence of the acclaimed winner of the June 12 1993 Presidential Election, Chief MKO Abiola, to honour his memory, 20 years after his death in detention
Abiola died on July 7, 1998 in the presence of some world leaders.
The occasion was commemorated with awards to heroes, heroines and martyrs of democracy in Nigeria.
Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari on June 6, 2018 recognised June 12 as the official Democracy Day in honour of Chief MKO Abiola and the supreme price he paid for the democracy the country is enjoying today.
Present at the event were Hajia Bola Shagaya, Publisher of Ovation Magazine, Chief Dele Momodu, Chief Olisa Agbakoba, Comrade Ayodele Adewale and many others.
