Wednesday, August 1st, 2018, Fews Next Face Africa, a pan-African model scouting competition held a press conference at the Few Model Management headquarters in Lekki, Lagos.

Present on the panel were Bolajo Fawehinmi: Director, Few Model Management, Wale Ewedemi: Group head of Corporate Communications at Petrolex (lead sponsor), Elina Hyvola: Scouting and Development, IMG Models and Luis Domingo: Scouting and Development, IMG Models.

Members of the press were invited for a session to discuss the competition thus far, and the impact it hopes to have on the modeling industry in Nigeria and globally.

They ra

ised many questions regarding the scouting sessions concluded in Kenya and Ethiopia last month, as well as what the judges are looking for in models who audition.

According to Bolajo Fawehinmi, “We are looking for ‘that girl’ that can represent a brand”.

Bolajo further went on to share that although many believe they are solely focused on looks, the judges are also very much looking for models with “presence”.

Discussing what the most exciting aspect of scouting is, the judges shared that the thrill is in visiting countries they have never been before.

Wale Ewedemi, Group Head of Corporate Communications at Petrolex, spoke on the overall objective of the Fews Next Face Africa model scouting competition, which is to get as many Nigerian and African models as possible international modeling opportunities where they can get the pay they deserve.

Emphasizing this, Bolajo shared that Dabarechi Kalu, the 2017 winner, has been involved in a number of campaigns with indigenous and foreign globally acclaimed brands including Maki Oh, Topshop, and H&M.

Fews Next Face Africa will hold its final auditions for the season today, August 2, 2018, at A White Space, Lagos.
