A masquerade, Ajofeebo has donated a pressing iron to Oluwo of Iwo, Oba (Dr.) Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi.

Ajofeebo made the donation today during the marking of 2018 annual Egungun masquerade at Oluwo’s palace, Iwo, Osun State.

Accepting the gift, Oluwo of Iwoland, reiterated his commitment to the promotion of his tradition, while charging believers to enhance his interest by upgrading their dress sense, peaceful conduct and demonstration of love.

Oluwo, whose reign has been characterized with peaceful annual celebration of the festival, stated masquerade celebration was reshape during his time to spread love to relatives, friends and neighbours.

He commended Ajofeebo for setting an unprecedented pace, calling on other masquerades to emulate the gesture.

In his words “there was always annual crisis during Egungun Festival before my enthronement. I brought sanctity and orderliness in. Since my reign, no single case of mayhem is recorded.”

“Today again, one of the masquerades donated a pressing iron to me. That is my message. The festival should be meant to show love, exchange of gifts and sportsmanship. With the donation and dress improvement, it is clear my message is yielding. I’m hopeful next year will be more enthusiastic.”

Oluwo described Egungun as a traditional object celebrated annually, appealing worshippers to upgrade it galore to suit international acceptance.

It could be recalled that Oluwo condemned the immodest dress of many masquerades last year.

Oba Akanbi lauded the improvement on stylish garment and design as he launched preferential treatment for the ostentatious masquerades.

Oluwo enjoined believers to imbibe the tenet of sportsmanship and update their public appearance.

Over 20 traditional rulers joined Oluwo for the funfair while government dignitaries were not left out.
