Wines of South Africa last weekend, took its annual tour of Africa to Nigeria where it held its 2016 Grand Tasting event. The wine show which enters it’s 4th season, took place at the Liquid Hub in Ikoyi, Lagos.
The event is aimed at showcasing South African wines to Nigerian trade, media, captains of industry and consumers, brought together wine connoisseurs, and wine lovers from all walks of life to an evening of tasting of delicious wines.
This year, six wine companies participated unlike previous years where up to 25 companies participated.
This year’s edition, came with innovation as the event introduced wine education, preceding the grand tasting at night. The course it is hoped would “help to create Ambassadors for South African wines” says Mathome Mbatha, Market Manager, Africa, for Wines of South Africa.
For Ronke Sobodu who has always been driven by passion to organise the event, she believes the annual wine tasting event is about “getting the right message out to consumers, making sure we understand how the wine culture and lifestyle works”.
Amongst the dignitaries that graced the ocassion was the former Secretary General of the Commonwealth, Emeka Anyaoku.
