Celebrating legendary singer, Sade Adu at 60

Sade Adu, British-Nigerian singer, songwriter, and actress is 60 today.

Born Helen Folasade Adu on January 16, 1959, in Ibadan, she was raised in Essex, London by her English mother.

Her dad was a Nigerian college instructor of financial matters, while her mum, Anne was an English medical caretaker.

Sade is widely considered a musical influence, and her contributions to music have made her a global figure in pop-culture for over two decades. She has been credited as one of the most successful British female artists in history.

She is reported to have a net worth of $70 million.

Sade was associated with a band for a long time, from 1981, with some seven individuals and they played calm jazzy songs.

Among her popular melodious songs are “Smooth Operator”, which Sade collaborated to compose.

Her major single, “Your love is King”, turned into a main in the list of 10 British numbers in the year 1984, and with that, her life and the band transformed.

For a large portion of the last 20 years, Sade has organised her own life over her expert profession, discharging just three studio collections of new materials.

In 1989, she married a Spanish film executive Carlos Scola, and they had a baby girl in 1996.

To celebrate the legendary singer in Nigeria, Elite Resources and Polkadot in partnership with The Soul Conversations is putting together Sade @ 60 Tribute edition. The show is designed to bring all Sade Adu lovers to experience live music from local musicians that would sing, dance and dress and serenade the audience like Sade Adu.

The event is scheduled for Thursday, January 17, 2018, at the Backyard events, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Red carpet starts at 5 pm, while the show lasts till 10pm.
