Her father, James Alade who was a Police Commissioner, is of Yoruba origin, while her mother, Helen Uzoma, is of Igbo tribe.
Yemi is a graduate of Geography from the Univerisity of Lagos. Before then, she had her primary school was St Saviour British Primary School, while her Secondary was at Victory Grammar School, Lagos
She came into limelight after winning the Peak Talent Show back in 2009
Yemi was known as Ginger as part of a girl group known as Noty Spices managed by Storm Management, before going solo.
