Genevieve Nnaji, Nollywood actress, producer, and director, clocks 40 today, May 3rd.

Fondly called Genny by friends and colleagues, she landed her first official acting job on the TV soap opera ‘Ripples’ when she was only eight years old, and later got her first film role, 11 years later in Dozie Eriobu’s ‘Most Wanted.’

She has since gone on to feature in many other movies and even produced and direct award-winning blockbusters.

In November 2015, Nnaji produced her first movie called Road to Yesterday, which won her the Best Movie Overall-West Africa at the 2016 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards.

In 2018, her directorial debut ‘Lionheart’ was acquired by online streaming service Netflix marking it the first Netflix original film from Nigeria. The Movie has its world premiere at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival.

Genevieve Nnaji is Nollywood’s first billionaire as Netflix buys her movie “Lion Heart” for #1,385,100,000($3.8million).

Genny has featured in several commercials some of which include those of Pronto beverage and Omo detergent. In 2004 she became the “Face of Lux” in Nigeria, she also appeared in Amstel Amstel Malta and Etisalat adverts.
