Ihedioha empowers women in Imo August meeting
Imo State governor’s wife, Lady Ebere Ihedioha has empowered over 20,000 women across the state.
The presentation took place during “Special 2019 Imo Women August Meeting”, which held from August 16 to September 1, 2019.
Those who were empowered was selected through raffle draw tickets, with the lucky ones carting home one item or another. On the conservative, a total of over 20,000 items were won!
The women were presented with motor vehicle (rabbit), tricycle bikes (keke), regular and love nwantiti motorcycles (okada), deep freezers (Thermacool) sewing machines (singer), grinding machines, beauty hair dryers, power generator sets (1-3KVA) and wrapper cloth and many more.
In her speech, the First Lady urged the women to continue to live up to expectations as wives and mothers, in whose hands the peace, love, unity, progress, growth and development of the State depended.
She appreciated the women for the relative calm and progress in the State, thanking them for contributing to the necessary change of power in Imo State during the election. She urged them to continue to support the administration of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha.
She assured the women in every LGA she went that what they were seeing for which they were applauding was just a sign of the good things that by the grace of God would be the portion of Imo women in the tenure of Gov. Ihedioha.
That, she explained, was because the governor means very well for Imo State, and is committed to rebuilding the State for the overall benefit of every Imolite.
She cited some instances of the signals for a better future for Imo State to include the successful participation of Imo State in the 2019 National Immunisation Programme, the restoration of public water supply in Imo State, beginning with the capital, Owerri; the environmental sanitation of the capital, Owerri; the restoration of public electricity supply in some areas that have not had light for many years.
The First Lady implored the women to endeavour to put to good use the items of empowerment that they received, promising those that didn’t get anything, that in subsequent Women August Meetings, more things will be provided.
Present at the presentation were Ogbuefi Mrs. Vivian Irona, wife of the Deputy Governor, Commissioner for Women Affairs, Lady Nkiruka Ibekwe, Mrs. Joan Nzeribe fondly hailed “Osodieri”, wife of Senator Francis Arthur Nzeribe, and the wives of the Chairmen of 23 local government areas of the state.
