WHAT YOUR CHILD TRULY NEEDS

December 28,2019
Share:

I write out of experience and inspiration, just this morning I saw a suicide note a 15 years old wrote to her mother.

What your child truly needs

She thanked her for all her effort to provide her with all the material things she needed but failed to meet her needs emotionally.

She narrated how her uncle took advantage of her loneliness and slept with her for 3 years.

But now that he left for Canada she’s broken and can’t face it all alone.

When her grades dropped her parents quickly got her a home teacher who reminds her of her uncle.

She couldn’t take it no more as her parents failed to notice her silence, withdrawal and sexual escapade with her uncle.

Like it happened under same roof for 3 years.

I’m a mother and a child who grew up without close watch as well and this is same for most of us.

But we can’t afford to train our kids that way. Our kids needs much more than providing their needs.

They need us to show them unconditional love, spend time with them and have intense conversations with them.

Make it possible for you to be their first point of contact whenever they have issues or challenges.

She’s in your custody for a reason do don’t let him or her go through it all themselves.

Remember that you are their safest bet when ever they have challenges but if you are unavailable, the next person might take the opportunity and exploit their innocence.

Above all they need, make certain to be there to bond and guide them through it all.

Our children want much more than material things, they need love and emotional bonding.

It’s best they learn that from us than from the preys of their destiny.

Don’t just be their parents become their friend and counsellor.

Compliments of the season.

Remember whatever you find yourself doing, do it the very best way possible and always give it your best.
