Chris Rock, American comedian-actor, and Megalyn Echikunwoke, his girlfriend, have announced the end to their four-year-old relationship.

According to Page Six, Rock broke up with his girlfriend some months ago before his headlining show at the Oscars where he poked fun at the divorce of Jeff Bezos, Amazon billionaire.

The news outlet quoted a source as saying the 55-year-old wasn’t ready yet to settle down for another relationship after his divorce with Malaak Compton whom he had married for 18 years was finalised in 2016.

He was once quoted as saying “would I ever get married again? Not if it would cure AIDS,” after his marriage with Compton hit the rock.

In a chat with Rolling Stones in 2017, the award-winning comedian had revealed how difficult it was for him to move on after his failed relationship with Compton.

“Getting divorced, you have to f–king start over,” he had said. “You get to reset. It’s not a breakdown, but something in your life broke down.”

Rock also admitted that he cheated on his then-wife with three women, one of whom is famous.

“I was a piece of s–t,” he said.

The comedian and Echikunwoke kickstarted their affair in 2016 shortly after the former’s divorce with his previous wife was formalised.
