Fourth Time In Five Years, Ed Sheeran Named UK’s Most Played Artist

English singer-songwriter, Ed Sheeran has been named the UK’s most played artist of 2019 his fourth time of achieving the feat in five years.

According to new data published by Phonographic Performance Ltd. (PPL), the UK’s music industry licensors, on Monday, the music superstar topped the chart following the success recorded by his ‘No.6 Collaborations Project’ in the year reviewed.

Ed Sheeran

Calvin Harris, a Scottish singer, clinched the second spot on the most played artist list while Sam Smith, Jess Glynne and P!nk came third, fourth and fifth respectively.

The annual charts reveal the most popular artists and songs across music usage and airplay data on radio and television, and public locations such as pubs, clubs, jukeboxes and shops.

Calvin Harris, however, topped the most played tracks Chart with ‘Giant’, his hit song, which featured Rag’n’Bone Man.

Ed also claimed the fourth spot on the most played song chart with ‘I Don’t Care’, his collaboration with Justin Bieber
