Peruzzi in an official statement apologized for his tweet from 8 years ago which condoned rape.

He also refuted the rape allegation against him saying ‘I have never and will never rape or sexually assault anyone’.

He, however, sympathized with rape victim-survivors adding that rape is a heinous and cowardly act which he doesn’t condone.

For his old tweets which resurfaced after a lady publicly on twitter accused him of rape, Peruzzi said ;

“I am ashamed and deeply apologetic with the series of tweets posted on social media 8  years ago.

Those tweets were irresponsible and ill-informed, I was younger didn’t quite grasp the implications of making such statements. They are neither who I am then or now “.
