Darey Alade Meets Ballet Boy Who Danced In The Rain

Nigerian singer, Darey Alade, has met with Anthony Madu, a young ballet boy, who recently broke the internet after a video of him dancing in the rain surfaced online.

After the 11-year-old had become famous in July following the viral video, he had landed multiple scholarship offers, including one to a distinguished ballet school in the United States.

On Saturday, Darey shared a clip of himself visiting a Lagos ballet school where the young boy practices, as part of his visits that followed on the heels of the release of his single ‘Jah Guide Me‘.

“Our lives hold a deeper significance and purpose that is higher than what surrounds us. Where you now have very little or no bearing on how far you’ll go. What you DO is what counts!” Darey wrote.

“The students at @LeapOfDanceAca1 and Anthony’s story reinforce this conviction. Last weekend, I set out to visit and connect with them. It was, of course, a worthy outing.”

Speaking of Darey, who watched from the sidelines and occasionally took mirrored dance moves as students of the ballet school did their stunts, Madu said: “I was very excited when I saw Mr. Darey.

“It’s my first time seeing him face-to-face. There’s so much talent in Nigeria. And we need support.”

In an interview with TheCable Lifestyle about his early struggles in the music scene, Darey had said: “Early days… I mean everyone had to pay their dues. We were hustling, doing free shows.

“…collecting peanuts just to put the name out there. For me, I was doing multiple things from an early age. I was singing. It’s either I join a choir or a group. There were groups like the Chordwebs.

“I’d later study music in school, do theatre; creative arts. We were doing acting and dance as well. Then I worked on the radio, worked on TV, hosted shows. I mean, I would say I’ve paid my dues.

“I was creative as far back as when I started. I learned a lot by being inspired by others, officially or unofficially. You just gain from other people’s experiences. It’s been an interesting journey so far.”
