I was not at Laycon’s birthday party – Folorunso Alakija

Nigerian industrialist, Folorunso Alakija has debunked rumours making the round that she attended the birthday party of Laycon, winner of the Big Brother Nigeria (BBNaija) reality TV show.

Alakija, who is ranked by Forbes as the richest woman in Nigeria with an estimated net worth of $1 billion, was reacting to a publication by an online blog claiming that she was at the event.

It was earlier reported how fans of the reality TV star threw a bash to celebrate his 27th birthday on Sunday.

In the now-deleted post, the online blog had shared a video wherein it claimed was the arrival of Alakija at the birthday party.

Reacting in a Twitter post on Monday, the 69-year-old described the news as “fake”. Alakija added that she has no relationship with the reality TV star or his management.

“This is not me and this is fake news. I was not at any party neither do I have any association with Laycon or his management,” she wrote.

In March, Folorunsho Alakija and Modupe, her husband, announced a donation of N1 billion to support the fight against coronavirus.

The industrialist also owns a foundation called the Rose of Sharon Foundation that helps widows and orphans through scholarships and business grants.
