Music: Davido Drops 17-track Album ‘A Better Time’

Global award-winning Nigerian singer David Adeleke better known as Davido, has finally come through with ‘A Better Time’, his much-awaited album.

The music star took to his social media page in the early hours of Friday to release the 17-track project to his numerous fans.

The singer had earlier scheduled the project’s release for July but failed to meet the deadline and consequently announced a new date.

The tracks in the new project include ‘Fem’, ‘Jowo’, ‘Something fishy’, ‘Heaven’, ‘Very Special’, ‘Holy Ground’, ‘The Best’, ‘Shopping Spree’ and ‘Sunlight’.

Others include ‘Tanana’, ‘Mebe’, ‘La La’, ‘So Crazy’, ‘Birthday Cake’, ‘I Got a Friend’, ‘Fade’ and ‘On My Way’.

The body of work also features several music heavyweights including Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, Nas, Young Thug, Tiwa Savage, Mugeez, and CKay.

Others enlisted for the album are Lil Baby, Hit-Boy, Sho Madjozi, Bella Shmurda, Sauti Sol and Mayorkun.

The project comes against the backdrop of the success recorded by ‘A Good Time‘, his 2019 album; ‘Omo Baba Olowo’, his 2012 body of work, and ‘Son of Mercy’, his 2016 EP.

Davido had on Wednesday described the album as his own way of inspiring hope amid the numerous challenges that have been confronting people since the dawn of 2020.

“This year we’ve been through crazy times. And through it all, we’ve all had to look inwards to find hopes of better times ahead. I found a few. In human and creative form. I’m so glad I can finally share them with you…” he had said.

With strings of awards and honourary mentions, Davido has established himself as one of the leading names in the Nigerian music industry.

He had recently declared himself as the “biggest artiste in Nigeria” amid rumoured rivalry with Wizkid.
