Dolly Parton In Her 75th Era

Ace American country music singer, Dolly Parton, has turned 75. The hitmaker, songwriter, and humanitarian has achieved a lot in her life.

The country queen was born on January 19, 1946, as the fourth child of 12. She was raised in Locust Ridge, Tennesse.

She is the inspiration behind Dollywood, a family amusement park in Pigeon Forge. In 2004, Parton was the recipient of the Living Legend Award by the U.S. Library of Congress.

The 10-time Grammy award-winning country music superstar is behind mega-hit songs like Jolene and 9 to 5. In 2016, her Dollywood Foundation donated $1,000 per month to families impacted by wildfires in Tennessee. And last year, she donated $1 million to battle the coronavirus.

“I’m just happy that anything I do can help somebody else, and when I donated the money to the COVID fund, I just wanted it to do good,” she told TODAY last November.

Parton launched the Imagination Library back in 1995, intending to give children in Tennessee free books each month. Today, Imagination Library is now one of the largest literary programs globally.

They have distributed more than 100 million books to children, a tremendous gift that became the subject of a documentary in 2020 called “The Library that Dolly Built.”

In 2018, the Library of Congress honoured her for the library. “Of all the things I’ve done in my life, this is one of the most precious,” Parton said

Recently, she saved the life of a child. While filming the Netflix holiday special “Christmas on the Square,” Parton pulled a 9-year-old actor named Talia Hill out of the path of an oncoming vehicle.

“We were on set, and I was at the hot chocolate station, and they said go back to your beginning positions,” Hill told Inside Edition in December. “So there was a vehicle moving, and I was walking, and then somebody grabbed me and pulled me back, and I looked up and it was Dolly Parton.”

To celebrate the legendary singer, the people of Tennessee have drafted a proposal for a statue to honour her in her home state.
