‘I’m pushing only JESUSBrand’ – Dupsy Oyeneyin, Gospel Singer

January 31,2021
Share:

Dupsy Oyeneyin is a born-again Christian, a wife, mother, passionate working-class professional, worship leader and songwriter.

She is also the Convener of the annual Foretaste Concert, which was birthed in 2014 with the vision to gather people together in pure heavenly atmosphere of worship, where they are able to connect with God causing divine direction, alignment,  guidance for life and establishment of divine order.

Oyeneyin has released five albums, the latest titled, ‘The Name of Jesus’ which contains track like Jesus No One Like You and 4 other soul lifting songs.
In this interview with Vanguard Allure, Dupsy Oyeneyin reiterated that she’s all about spreading the gospel and have no plans to divert to circular songs. She also revealed her source of inspiration, balancing work life and family as well as other issues.

Excerpts;
What inspired JESUS there is no one like you?

This song was inspired by the Holy Spirit as I studied the word of God and realized we have a God that is in a class of His own, hence why we call Him HOLY. He is set apart and incomparable. We can find people who look like or resemble themselves but when it comes to our Abba, there is no one like Him in the way He loves, cares and relates with us.

Why the choice of gospel music?

I am a disciple of Christ and my songs are to propagate and establish the domain of my King (KING – DOMAIN) here on earth, so naturally and spiritually, I can only sing about the good news of that Kingdom.

Amongst songs done, what’s your favorite and why?

I kind of enjoy my songs even before I record or release them and this depends on where I am, at different points of my life. The truth is I have no favourite, it depends on my spiritual posture.

Do you think women are overshadowed by the male in terms of demands?

I personally do not believe in focusing on my gender in other to achieve my goals. In my corporate life, I work in a male dominated industry but this has not stopped me from getting to a Management position and a voice to be reckoned with. This is the same way I approach life; It’s not about my gender but what I bring to the table, be it the corporate, social or spiritual table.

How do you try to break even?

If you are speaking in the area of Finance, I allow God to control how I disburse the fund He has put in my hands and this way, I don’t worry about what I need, I only depend on Him to supply my need. To break even in life, I strive to maintain work-life balance and focus on what is important at every point in time deploying Self and Time Management.

Who are those you look up to the industry?

I look up to people who have balanced their natural and spiritual lives, while impacting human beings and directing their attention to God.

Do you see yourself doing contemporary music anytime?

If you mean secular songs, NO.

What is the idea behind FORETASTE as a yearly concert?

It’s a forum that bring people together in an atmosphere of worship where they receive clarity and vision from God to fulfil their mandate here on earth. We are all on assignment here on earth and Foretaste Concert is here to help people align with God and fulfill that assignment.

What are your projections for your brand in 5 years time?

I do not have a brand as Dupsy, the brand I am pushing is JESUSBrand! My vision is to storm the airwaves with the Gospel of the Kingdom of God and leaning on the Holy Spirit to achieve this.
