#OccupyLekkiTollGate: ”My father, siblings warned me not to go out” – Mr Macaroni speaks after release

Comedian Mr Macaroni has broken silence on his arrest for joining in the peaceful protest held on Saturday.

The protest was to show displeasure with the decision of the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry allowing the Lekki Concession Company to reopen the Lekki tollgate.

Mr. Macaroni was later granted bail alongside several other arrested protesters on Saturday.

Sharing a message to his followers on his Instagram page moments ago, Mr Macaroni revealed how he was warned by his father and siblings not to go out to protest.
“It is not that I am brave, I didn’t even want to go out, I was very scared, my father, siblings, family, friends called me not to go but the reason I went is cos i knew people will be there…and i knew people will die again….the situation we are in this country is deep shit….we have a government that has zero value for human life….this is not the time to blame celebrities for not coming out….I was scared too…when we were picked up, we were taken to Adeniji and stripped naked. It was 39 of us that were arrested, The 39 people are the true heroes….”

A graduate of Redeemers University, Ede, Mr Macaroni had learnt his voice and rallied with #EndSARS protesters against police brutality and bad governance in Nigeria in October 2020.
