President Biden Backs Okonjo-Iweala To Lead WTO
Nigeria’s former Finance Minister Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is the last woman standing in the race to become the new Director-General of the World Trade Organisation after South Korea’s Trade Minister Yoo Myung-hee withdrew on 5 February.
It was also revealed that United States on Friday threw its support behind Nigeria’s Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala to head the World Trade Organization following South Korean rival withdrawal.
The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative made the announcement on behalf of President Joe Biden’s administration.
Okonjo-Iweala had faced opposition from former President Donald Trump’s administration.
