Rita Dominic, Genevieve Nnaji and other celebrities snubbed by Mo Abudu’s Eko Star Film Awards
It has been confirmed that Ruth Kadiri and Halima Abubakar weren’t the only Nigerian celebrities that were snubbed at the Just concluded Eko Star Film and TV Festival.
The event was organised by media mogul, Mo Abudu and it was sponsored by The Lagos State Government.
It would be recalled that after the event, hardworking producer and actress, Ruth Kadiri took to her Instagram page to call out Mo Abudu and the Lagos state government for not acknowledging her.
She wrote, “”I will not be pressured. I will keep working hard. @lagosstategovt@moabudu@ijayonah@nifsummit thanks for overlooking me and congrats to everyone who got recognized. the film industry is controlled by women, so if you’re going to do it, do it right or don’t do it at all”
Replying to her post, Annie Idibia commented, “Strength !!!!! We see you sis … you Can’t be ignored… keep doing the incredible amazing job u re doing !! May the universe continue to be in your favor ! You are a STAR”.
Halima Abubakar also took to her Instagram page to throw a shade.
However, other hardworking Nigerian celebrities were also ignored. Below are some of them and why we think they deserved the award.
Popular actress and producer, Mercy Johnson Okojie was also ignored by Mo Abudu despite her tremendous inputs into the Nigerian entertainment Industry. With scores of awards under her belt and having starred in many block busters, Mercy Johnson deserves to be among the top awardee of the event. She also produced and starred as the lead actress in the highest grossing Epic movie of all time, “The Legend of Inikpi”.
Despite her records in the Nollywood industry, Genevieve Nnaji was snubbed. Genevieve produced Lion Heart, the first Nigerian movie purchased by Netflix, reportedly at 3.5 million dollars. Isn’t that enough reason to be on the list?
Other amazing female movie producers, actresses and media girls who were supposed to be awarded but snubbed includes; Ruth Kadiri, Toke Makinwa, Tonto Dikeh, Oma Nnadi, Halima Abubakar, Iyabo Ojo, Mercy Aigbe, Adesua Etomi, Rita Dominic, Mildred Okwo.
