Christian Louboutin set to launch Charity Collection With Idris Elba and wife
French designer Christian Louboutin, who is best known for his iconic red-soled shoes is teaming up with his good friends, couple Idris Elba and Sabrina Dhowre Elba, on a charity project aimed at supporting organisations that work towards preventing racial injustice.
Tagged ‘Walk A Mile In My Shoes,’ the collection has been created to help draw attention to the issues of racial injustice that was widely recognised last summer after the death of George Floyd, but are no longer receiving the same kind of attention.
The collection features both mens and womenswear, much of it with the campaign name written across the side of the shoes.
100 percent of the profits will go towards the target charities in the UK, the US and in Africa.
They include; Immediate Theatre, an organisation which works with young people and communities in Hackney and East London to ensure access for all; Purposeful, a feminist movement-building hub for adolescent girls; and Be Rose International, which provides humanitarian relief for people in need of emergency assistance.
Others include; The Somali Hope Foundation, an organisation dedicated to providing access to free, quality, and equitable education to youth in rural Somalia; and Gathering for Justice, which is an organisation whose mission is to build a movement to end child incarceration while working to eliminate the racial inequities that permeate the justice system.
“The friends want to instigate meaningful change through practical solutions” the brand said in a press release.
“They are optimistic that the action taken by individuals and communities alike will help to steer a strong course towards a global message of equality and, as Christian notes: ‘A true sense of responsibility’.
The ‘Walk A Mile In My Shoes’ collection will be available to shop from this June.
