Donald Trump congratulates Buhari on the Ban of Twitter in Nigeria
Former US President Donald Trump has published a statement in support of Nigeria’s move to halt Twitter operations in the West African country.
He said in his statement: “Congratulations to the country of Nigeria, who just banned Twitter because they banned their President,”.
The former President also urged other countries to follow Nigeria’s lead and prohibit the use of Twitter and Facebook.
After being accused of encouraging mobs to assault the US Capitol, Trump was banned from Twitter and Facebook in January. The tragedy resulted in the deaths of five persons.
He questioned if he should have banned Facebook and Twitter during his administration in a statement released on Monday. “Who are they to dictate good and evil if they themselves are evil? Perhaps I should have done it while I was President. But [Facebook founder Mark] Zuckerberg kept calling me and coming to the White House for dinner telling me how great I was,” he said.
