The Return of Red Carpet Fun After Lockdown
The Red carpet is back!
After the coronavirus pandemic forced awards ceremonies, beauty pageants, musical concerts and movie premieres to be cancelled or go virtual over the past year, fashion enthusiasts are pleased with the gradual return of glamour at movie premieres, fashion exhibitions, awards ceremonies and fashion shows.
With the return of these shows, celebrities get to gleefully showcase their stylish outfits on the red/black carpet.
Already, some events have been held with fashionistas, Nollywood A-listers and celebrities returning to strut their stuff, live and in person, on perhaps the most iconic red carpet of all, at the different movie premieres that have been held so far.
In May, actor and comedian, Williams Uchemba, alongside his co-stars hosted various celebrities at the premiere of his movie, ‘Mamba’s Diamond’.
Though it was a smaller-than-usual affair with fewer celebrities and cameras – and strict COVID-19 protocols in place, the event still held sway.
Similarly, personalities brought their glitz and glamour on at the premiere of the movie, ‘Devil in Agbada.’
Stars like Uche Jombo, Erica Nlewedim, Praise Nelson and others, who attended the event, at the Filmhouse cinemas in Lekki, Lagos, did justice to the ‘Dress like a Devil in Agbada or a Motorbiker baddie’, theme.
The red carpet was also lit when iconic designer, who is also one of the forces to reckon with in the Nigerian fashion industry, Ade Bakare, celebrated his 30th anniversary in the fashion industry. The crème-de-la-crème in the Nigerian fashion industry set the red carpet and runway on fire with panache and glitz at the Wheatbaker Hotel in Ikoyi Lagos venue of the event.
No doubt, the pandemic may have forced many to slow down the glamour at many parties, but creativity and colour still remain. And if what we’ve seen at these movie premieres and fashion shows are anything to go by, we’re certainly in for a treat.
