Musician turned politician and husband to screen goddess, Bankole Wellington, better known as Banky W, has revealed that his political ambition had its downsides as it strained his marriage in no small measure coupled with the quest to be parents in 2019.
In an interview session with podcast host, Chude Jideonwo, the actor stated that at the time, he and his wife, Adesua Etomi-Wellington, were trying to have a child and as such, the actress had to undergo different medical procedures including In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) which took a toll on her health.
He added that amidst all the pain Adesua went through, he sadly couldn’t spend quality time with her owing to his political quest.
According to him, the outcome of his political ambition further strained his relationship with his wife, particularly when they lost their first pregnancy which was a set of twins.
“So, 2019 was a tough year, it was a seminal moment in my life because that was the year we were running for office and at the same time, my wife and I were struggling at that point to have a child.”
“So, we had started towards the end of 2018 entering 2019. We started doing IVF treatment. You know we had done a second one which is very difficult especially for the woman. When you leave the woman, it becomes difficult for you because you don’t know how to help.”
Recall that in 2020, the two eventually welcomed their bundle of joy and their testimony quickly spread like wide fire.
Recently, the father of one earned the Eti-Osa Constituency ticket to represent the people in the House of Representative.
