Dami Duro’s beat was originally for Sexy Steel – Davido
David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has disclosed that the beat of his popular song, Dami Duro, was originally intended for another performer.
The musician was interviewed for an episode of the documentary Afro Beat: the Backstory about his 2011 hit tracks.
The film produced by Ayo Shoniya, which examines the development of the Afrobeat genre, made its Netflix debut on Thursday.
The singer admitted that while the song’s beat was initially intended for another musical act, Sexy Steel, he had no plans to release it.
“People that were in the studio when I was recording that song included Wande, Bigiano, Shank and Shizzi. I started the beat to Dami Duro and then was making the beat for Sexy Steel.”
“This is fact because I have a studio, I have like the best studio at that time. So, I was making it for Sexy Steel at that time. I met Shizzi in Wande’s house when he was working on Wizkid’s album.”
