Actor, Benson Okonkwo mourns brother, solicits funds for funeral

Benson Okonkwo, a Nollywood actor, is mourning the loss of his younger brother.

Okonkwo claimed in an Instagram post that his brother passed away on Friday, July 1, after being poisoned in Abuja.

The grieving actor used the occasion to ask his friends and colleagues for donations to aid with the deceased’s burial.

He wrote;

“Greetings to everyone… I need your help in my trying time, pleading to the general public… and celebrities all over the world.”

“I lost my younger brother on Saturday, 2nd july..in Abuja. He was poisoned. I am so devastated now plz I need your little support urgently for his burial arrangement plz nothing is small your 1k will go far may God reward you as you send your token.”

Benson then shared information about his bank account for those who would want to help.

Benson has acknowledged some of the difficulties he encountered on his path to fame, so it hasn’t always been rosy for him.

He had said:

“It’s the same challenge that we all face, like attending auditions upon auditions, especially in the early stages. One can go for auditions and not get a role.”

“Another challenge is financial challenges. As a young actor, one would likely be underpaid. And you’ll be left to fend for yourself. Like if you go for auditions, on some sets, it’s only the known face that gets food, others would starve or look for what to eat.”
