‘I celebrate a freshly minted Octogenarian’ – Atiku Abubakar hails Olu Jacobs
Peoples Democratic Party PDP candidate for the presidential election, Atiku Abubakar has joined the rest of the world to celebrate veteran Nollywood actor, Olu Jacobs who clocked 80 on Sunday, July 11.

Taking to his verified Instagram page, Atiku Abubakar hailed Jacobs for his contribution to Nollywood as a living legend.
He wrote: “Today, I celebrate a freshly minted Octogenarian, Sir. Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs (Olu Jacobs). You have seen the world change tremendously and imparted it in your stead. You have been an inspiration to many, a highly respected and honourable person. A living legend and an exemplary citizen. Congratulations on eight decades of life! -AA.’
Allure Vanguard had earlier reported that the President of Nigeria, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), joined Nollywood and professional actors, who are in Nigeria and those abroad, to celebrate the stage and screen icon, Olu Jacobs, on his 80th birthday which was on Sunday, July 11, 2022.

The President’s birthday message was contained in an announcement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, titled ‘President Buhari joins Nollywood in celebrating Olu Jacobs at 80.’
According to Adesina, “The President felicitates with the Jacobs’ family, including the wife, also a renowned thespian, Joke Silva, and their friends on the auspicious occasion, which calls for thanksgiving for God’s care, guidance and protection.
“President Buhari affirms the influence of the veteran actor on the film industry, setting a standard of professionalism that has attracted global recognition and awards, like the Lifetime Achievement Award conferred on him in 2016 by African Movie Academy Awards.”
Buhari also noted that Olu Jacob’s creative ability to interpret roles, simplify complex issues and bring messages to the understanding of both young and old, levelling cultural, ethnic and religious barriers to become a household name all over the country and beyond.
Largely stereotyped as a father and voice of wisdom in most movies, President Buhari believes Olu Jacobs’ natural tendency to counsel, inspire and instruct easily earned him the roles, while appreciating his foresight in winning many into the profession and guiding them to stardom.
The President, therefore, prayed that the Almighty God will grant him better health, longer life and steadfastness in service to the Arts, God, and humanity.
Happy birthday to the amazing Olu Jacobs.
