Over N2.2m raised for Eedris Abdulkareem’s kidney transplant
Yesterday, Nigerian rapper, Eedris Abdulkareem, underwent a kidney transplant.
The musician has been receiving dialysis after being recently diagnosed with renal failure.
The rapper’s wife, Yetunde, is expected to donate one of her kidneys to him, according to earlier reports.
Abdulkareem stated last week that he had authorized the launch of a GoFundMe after being convinced by his supporters and friends.
“However, based on the requests I have been receiving on the need for GoFundMe activities, I want to assure everyone that the activity is now on. Just click on my Instagram website for the gofundme link. I am feeling better, strong and agile in body and soul, while awaiting the doctors summons for the surgery procedures scheduled for anytime from now. Prayers, faith and staunch belief in God’s awesome works drives me.”
The fundraising effort has so far generated £4,329 (N2.2 million) from 167 donors, from its target of £48,000.
Eedris, who is a veteran rapper, was a member of the hip-hop group, ‘The Remedies’ since 1997, until 2002 when they broke up.
The rapper has become a well-known figure in the music business as a solo performer.
