Police to prosecute BNXN for officer assault

Daniel Benson, better known by his stage as BNXN, a musician, will be punished for assaulting a police officer, according to Ben Hundeyin, a spokesman for the Lagos State Police Command.

BNXN, formerly known as Buju, admitted in since-deleted tweets that he had engaged in a dispute with the police and spilt on an officer as a result.

The artist and officers of the Nigerian Police Force were seen fighting in a video that circulated on Twitter on Wednesday.

BNXN now-deleted tweet reads:

Spat in a police officer’s face and it felt so good. I let you in my car and you dragged and tear my shirt, and start slapping me? (Sic) Nah, everybody must stop!”

Upon learning of the incident, Hundeyin responded on Twitter by saying that, if proven guilty of misbehavior, the police officers will face consequences.

He shared screenshots of BNXN’s post and reaffirmed that the musician will “surely” be prosecuted for assaulting a police officer.

“@BNXN proudly tweeted that he ‘spat in [sic] a police officer’s face and it felt so good.’ He has since deleted the tweet.”

“The police officers will be sanctioned for their misbehaviour if established, while @BNXN will surely answer for his assault on a police officer.”
