Court detains Ice Prince at Ikoyi prison for assaulting officer
For the alleged assault on a police officer, Panshak Zamani, alias Ice Prince, has been ordered by a magistrate court in Ajah, Lagos State, to be remanded at Ikoyi Correctional Center.
On Friday, Ice Prince was charged by the Lagos State Police Command with three offences involving assault, obstruction, and kidnapping of a police officer.
When the accusations were read to him, he entered a plea of not guilty. The presiding magistrate, Taiwo Oyaniyi, released him on bail in the amount of N500,000. Additionally, he had to offer two sureties.
He was required to stay in Ikoyi prison until all of the terms of his bail were satisfied.
According to Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos State Police Command spokeswoman, the musician was taken into custody early on Friday.
He claimed that after the musician was pulled over for driving without license plates, the officer was kidnapped and attacked in his car.
In a tweet posted on his Twitter account on Friday, Hundeyin said that the musician had also threatened to toss the cop into the lagoon.
“At 3am today, @Iceprincezamani was stopped for driving without licence plates. He agreed to be taken to the station.
He, thereafter, abducted the police officer in his car, assaulted him and threatened to throw him in the river. He has been arrested and would be arraigned today.”
