Bill Cosby to resume tour in 2023 amid new sexual assault allegations
More than a year after his release from prison following the reversal of his sexual assault conviction, American stand-up comedian and actor, Bill Cosby plans to start touring once more in 2023.
During an unexpected appearance on WGH Talk, Cosby, 85, stated his wish to go on tour in 2023.
When asked if he might start traveling next year, he replied;
Yes. Yes, because there’s so much fun to be had in this storytelling that I do. Years ago, maybe 10 years ago, I found it was better to say it after I write it.
When I come out of this, I feel that I will be able to perform and be the Bill Cosby that my audience knows me to be.
According to a Cosby’s representative, the actor “is looking at spring/summer to start touring.”
The most recent information was released more than a year after Cosby was released from prison when his Pennsylvania sexual assault conviction from 2018 was overturned.
The year after Cosby was accused of assaulting Andrea Constand, a former director of operations for Temple University’s women’s basketball team, more than 50 women came forward with sexual assault claims against him.
The Pennsylvania Supreme Court reversed his conviction last year, finding that the prosecution against him had violated due process unfairly. He had been found guilty in 2018 and given a sentence of up to 10 years in prison.
However, earlier this month, five women—actresses Lili Bernard and Eden Tirl, who also appeared on The Cosby Show, as well as Jewel Gittens, Jennifer Thompson, and Cindra Ladd—repeatedly accused Cosby of assault, battery, inflicting emotional distress, and false imprisonment in interactions that took place over the course of the past decade.
Although all five of the plaintiffs had previously come forward with allegations against Cosby, the new civil lawsuit was brought under the Adult Survivors Act of New York, which was recently passed and grants survivors of sexual abuse a one-year window to file a lawsuit even if the statute of limitations on their claims has passed.
Since then, Cosby has refuted the fresh accusations.
