How I spent $2m on ‘A Better Time’ album – Davido
Nigerian music sensation, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has disclosed that he spent a whopping $2 million on his third studio album titled ‘A Better Time’.
The figure, which is equivalent to almost one billion naira, includes production, videos, and promotions for the album.
Davido made this revelation during his media tour for his new album ‘Timeless’ in the United States. In an interview on Hot 97FM, New York’s morning show, he stated that he spent more on ‘A Better Time’ than his latest album ‘Timeless,’ yet he has already made more money from it.
The singer, who has been a prominent figure in the Nigerian music industry, noted that the success of his last album shows the level at which African music is going.
He said, “My last album, I will tell you, I probably spent $2 million. That is for everything. You know what I’m saying? I haven’t even spent $300k on this album ‘Timeless’. And I made more already in three days. It just shows me the level where African music is going.”
‘A Better Time,’ released in 2020, features an impressive lineup of international stars such as Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, Young Thug, Lil Baby, and Summer Walker. The album was met with critical acclaim and showcased Davido’s versatility and unique sound to the world.
Davido’s latest album, ‘Timeless,’ continues to showcase the singer’s talent and features collaborations with various Nigerian artists such as Buju, Ckay, and Focalistic.
