5 outdated home decor trends in 2024

February 25,2024
Share:

1. Overly Matchy-Matchy Decor: The trend of perfectly matching furniture sets and accessories is giving way to a more eclectic and personalized approach, where mixing styles and textures adds depth and character to a space.

2. All-White Kitchens: While white kitchens have been popular for years, they can now feel sterile and dated. In 2024, homeowners are opting for more warmth and personality in their kitchen design, incorporating natural wood tones, colorful accents, or mixed materials for a more inviting feel.

3. Accent Walls: The accent wall trend, where one wall is painted a bold colour or covered in a dramatic wallpaper, is losing popularity. Instead, homeowners are embracing more cohesive colour schemes and experimenting with texture and artwork to create focal points in their rooms.

4. Open Shelving Everywhere: While open shelving can create an airy and modern look, it’s often impractical for everyday living, as it requires constant tidying and maintenance. In 2024, there’s a shift towards a balance between open and closed storage solutions to maintain functionality while still showcasing favourite items.

5. Generic Gallery Walls: Gallery walls filled with generic prints or mass-produced artwork are becoming less desirable. Instead, homeowners are opting for curated collections of meaningful art and photography, or even creating their own original pieces, to add personality and depth to their walls.
