Olawunmi Esan’s Work in Psychosexual Therapy and Sexuality Education

Olawunmi Esan, a distinguished psychosexual therapist and founder of the University of Sex, is making significant strides in the field of human sexuality and psychosexual therapy.

Her work has transformed the intimate lives of countless individuals and couples, and she continues to push the boundaries of understanding and acceptance in this vital area of human relationships.

Olawunmi Esan’s journey into psychosexual therapy and sexuality education began with a deep-seated interest in psychology and human sexuality. With an undergraduate degree in psychology, followed by a Master’s degree and certifications in psychosexual therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and counseling, Olawunmi has always sought to understand and demystify human sexuality.

A pivotal moment came after the birth of her first child, a 5.2 kg baby. Olawunmi’s candid discussions about post-birth vaginal health, despite societal discomfort, highlighted the widespread need for open dialogue and professional guidance on sexual health. “Talking about my genitals was very uncomfortable for a lot of people. I did find my solution, and it dawned on me that there were more people out there who needed my expertise,” Olawunmi explains. This realization propelled her to be more vocal and active in her field, aiming to resolve the common yet often unspoken sexual issues faced by many couples.

In addition to her extensive training, Olawunmi Esan is the founder of the University of Sex, Africa’s premier personal sex coaching academy. This institution has significantly enhanced the intimate lives of over a thousand couples, offering sexuality coaching, education, and training for a more fulfilling sexual life.

Olawunmi also contributes her expertise to the faculty of prestigious institutes such as the ADI College of Counseling and Psychotherapy and the Institute of Family Engineering and Development, further extending her impact in the field.

Olawunmi Esan approaches problem-solving in her field with a tailored, individualized methodology. Recognizing that sexual concerns often have unique root causes for each person, her interventions are customized to meet the specific needs of her clients.

A key innovation in Olawunmi’s work is the development of frameworks for therapists, including the upcoming Sexuality Practitioner Program. This program aims to equip aspiring professionals with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively address clients’ sexual concerns, ensuring high standards of care and impact in the field.

Looking ahead, Olawunmi Esan is dedicated to furthering professional development in sexuality education. Her upcoming professional training course will provide comprehensive training for those looking to enter the field of sexuality, empowering them to work effectively with clients and grow in their careers.

Additionally, Olawunmi is planning sexuality conferences aimed at demystifying and removing the shame surrounding sexuality. These initiatives are designed to foster a more accepting society that embraces sexuality as an integral part of human experience.
