South African Trailblazer Shilenge Thembi Portia Makes Waves in Fintech and Philanthropy

Shilenge Thembi Portia is a rising star in the world of online trading and digital finance. At just 31, she has become a leading figure in Africa’s fintech space, while also dedicating herself to giving back to her community.

Early adopter in digital trading paves the way for others

Thembi’s journey began in 2016, when she ventured into the world of Bitcoin trading, mining, and staking at a time when digital currencies were still widely doubted. Her foresight and success in this field have made her a global phenomenon and a pioneer in digital innovation.  She later expanded her expertise to include other digital currencies like Ethereum and Ripple.

Fems in Tech Empowers Women in Finance

Shilenge Thembi’s passion extends beyond personal gain. She is the founder of Fems in Tech, a movement that celebrates and empowers female entrepreneurs and innovators in the fields of fintech, business, and finance. Fems in Tech fosters collaboration and aims to create impactful solutions that promote financial inclusion and diversity within the industry.

Giving Back to the Community

Thembi’s commitment goes beyond the boardroom.  On Children’s Day, she and Fems in Tech organized a visit to a local community clinic and a school for disabled children, providing meals and essential supplies.  This act exemplifies Thembi’s philosophy of giving back and uplifting her community.

Inspiring the next generation

Shilenge Thembi is passionate about financial literacy and education.  She actively mentors and teaches her children about the importance of trading and taking control of their financial future.

From humble beginnings to a role model

Shilenge Thembi Portia’s story is one of overcoming obstacles. Growing up in a small village in South Africa, she used education and determination to achieve her goals.  She graduated with a Chemical Engineering degree from Tshwane University of Technology before entering the world of cryptocurrency.

Philanthropy close to her heart

Thembi’s philanthropic efforts are equally impressive.  In 2023, she donated 50,000 sanitary pads to schools in her hometown, ensuring that girls’ education is not hindered by a lack of essential supplies.

Shilenge Thembi Portia is a true inspiration,  demonstrating the power of innovation, community, and education.
