By Josephine Agbonkhese
On the 10th of September 2024, the city of Abuja became the backdrop for the unveiling of Sabdelice’s latest showcase, the “Cultural Grace” Collection, a stunning creation by creative director and fashion designer Akintolure-Lawal Temitope Deborah.

The private event took place in an elegant venue tucked away from the city’s bustling streets. With high ceilings, soft ambient lighting, and polished interiors, the location carried a more classic and refined atmosphere, perfectly suited to highlight a collection that beautifully paid tribute to timeless African fashion across all ages.
The collection opened with striking elegance: a regal ensemble pairing a luxurious black velvet top with a floor-length skirt in rich pink and purple tones, embellished with intricate floral embroidery and subtle sequins. The top featured beautifully sculpted layered ruffles along the neckline, creating an effortless sense of sophistication, while the long skirt hugged the figure gracefully. The model walked with ease, her gold accessories adding to the ensemble’s refined finish.

The transition to vibrant tones followed with a radiant blue and yellow combination. The look featured a well-fitted gown adorned with bold, butterfly-inspired patterns in contrasting yellow and navy blue, finished with a structured blue silk jacket. The addition of gathered sleeves gave the jacket a playful shape, while the gown underneath flowed elegantly. This piece exuded confidence, embracing bold colours without compromising on class.
The third outfit was a refreshing blend of earthy tones and youthful design. A fitted gown featuring a vibrant pattern of green, orange, and black, paired with striking yellow ruffled accents along the shoulders and flared bell sleeves. The structured mermaid cut enhanced the figure, while the playful yellow details added brightness to the overall look, making it perfect for celebratory occasions.

Adding a modern, relaxed flair was a smartly tailored orange two-piece set. A simple, fitted sleeveless top paired with slim-cut trousers, accompanied by a matching short kimono jacket with black satin trimming. The subtle floral patterns created a balance between minimalism and elegance, and the model’s relaxed stance gave this look a sophisticated yet easygoing appeal.
The show continued with a brilliant burst of sunshine in the form of a stunning yellow lace buba and iro set. The elaborate embroidery and light-catching sequins on the flowing fabric gave the ensemble a rich textural depth, while the matching gele and coral accessories honoured traditional Yoruba aesthetics. The model’s warm smile and graceful posture made this look stand out as a proud celebration of cultural identity.
The next ensemble offered a softer touch, a blush pink dress cut just above the knee, with a minimalistic silhouette. A simple fabric flower on the chest and complementary jewellery kept the look delicate and youthful. This design was charmingly understated, perfectly suited for younger wearers or anyone who appreciates graceful simplicity.

Closing the showcase was a vibrant interpretation of childhood style, featuring a boy’s agbada set in lively orange, black, and white. Geometric prints, tribal motifs, and traditional coral beads came together effortlessly, accompanied by a pink cap and walking stick. The ensemble reflected dignity and tradition, perfectly capturing how African fashion can celebrate even the youngest generation.
Sabdelice’s “Cultural Grace” Collection was a clear reminder of fashion’s role in preserving heritage while evolving through time. With models spanning various generations, Akintolure-Lawal Temitope Deborah delivered a heartfelt celebration of African beauty, proving that true elegance has no age limit.
