As part of The Birthday Celebrations of His Imperial Majesty Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, The Ooni of Ife, Recognition Awards were given out during Black History Month in the UK, at the UK Africa Trade Expo held last Friday in London. This esteemed honor was presented to individuals who have demonstrated exceptional service, dedication, and excellence in their fields, reflecting the values of our continent.
Personalities who received the awards included Entertainment Promoter Adesegun Adeosun Jnr, aka Smade, Adesope Olajide (Afrobest Promoter), Adedayo David Eweje (Retail and Fashion Store owner, David Wej), Nnaji Uchechukwu (Creative Director Ouch), Mrs. Tola Onigbanjo (Founder Women4Africa), Afrobeat Enthusiast Award, Mrs. Ify Adenuga (Inspirational Author, Creative Leadership Award – Skepta’s Mother), Abigail Owuo (Motivational Mentor & Role Model – Stormzy’s Mother), and Mr. Yemi Edu (Daniel Ford International), among others.
Speaking at the event, Queen Ronke Ademiluyi Ogunwusi, Founder Africa Fashion Week London, said the event is in celebration of Black History Month. “We are proud to present this award at Africa Fashion Week London, a vibrant showcase of African culture, fashion, and creativity. This award is a symbol of the Ooni’s appreciation for outstanding achievements and a testament to the recipient’s hard work and commitment to our community.”
The event was attended by top personalities in government and the corporate sector, including Hon. Comm. Culture & Tourism Lagos State Hon. Toke Benson, Mrs. Abiola Adelana (Head of Tourism Desk, Sterling Bank), and Toyin Lawani (Celebrity Fashion Stylist), among others.
