By Yemisi Suleiman
Ayeni Temitope Grace, the founder and CEO of TemmyGrace Apparel, showcased her latest collection at Fashions Finest Africa Epic Show, 2024 to much acclaim. As a talented and innovative fashion designer with over seven years of experience, Temitope has proven herself to be a force to be reckoned with in the fashion industry.
As a fashion Editor who has covered a lot of fashion shows around the world, I would say the designer’s natural creative ability, exceptional work ethic, and commitment to excellence were on full display in her latest collection.

The collection was inspired by Temitope’s passion for creating designs that make people stand out and feel confident in their style. Each piece was designed to complement one’s natural body while promoting comfortability, healthy self-esteem, and self-confidence. The collection ranged from normal to plus size, catering to those who appreciate unique and high-quality designs that satisfy their fashion needs.

As a graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife Nigeria, with a Bachelor’s degree in Demography and Social Statistics and a National Diploma in Statistics from the Federal School of Statistics, Ayeni Temitope Grace has also received comprehensive training in fashion designing. She has attended courses in pattern drafting, corsetry, fashion illustration, garment construction, business of fashion, beading techniques, and more. This vast and comprehensive training is evident in her exceptional designs that resonate with clients and fashion enthusiasts.

TemmyGrace Apparel’s philosophy is that fashion and style are an expressional art of oneself, conveying one’s values and thoughts at the highest level of confidence. This was evident in the collection, which showcased not only Temitope’s vital skills and talent but also her remarkable work ethic and commendable attitude towards personal growth.

The collection featured several standout pieces, including the Royal Chic collection, which incorporated vibrant prints to depict a form of royalty and sophistication. The collection was achieved by incorporating a blend of African Ankara prints with smooth cotton fabric, resulting in a unique blend of timeless look and craftsmanship. The Bold Chic collection featured a three-quarter sleeveless jacket and long palazzo pant made from Ankara fabric, making a statement of elegance, versatility, and depth of African textile.

The Flora Chic collection showcased the beauty and adaptability of African textiles by blending traditional Ankara fabric into modern designs. The collection highlighted the significance of preserving and respecting cultural heritage in contemporary fashion. The Prince Charming collection featured a combination of smooth silk fabric with Aso-oke, celebrating diversity in fashion for men and showcasing eco-friendly production methods.

The Diva Collection was a standout piece, made from a combination of an African fabric called aso-oke with a contemporary fabric blend. The collection highlighted the beauty of African-modern coherence with high-quality fabrics that reflect vibrant colours, ensuring that the collection was not just beautiful but durable.

One area where the collection could improve is in the use of sustainable and ethical practices. While TemmyGrace Apparel is committed to sustainable and ethical fashion practices, the collection did not explicitly showcase these values. Incorporating sustainable fabrics that are timeless could further enhance the collection’s appeal and align with the growing global consciousness of eco-friendly choices.

Overall, Ayeni Temitope Grace’s latest collection was a testament to her talent and commitment to creating unique and high-quality designs that resonate with clients and fashion enthusiasts. With a focus on sustainability and ethical practices, TemmyGrace Apparel is poised to remain a significant player on the global fashion stage.
