Veekee James Claps Back at Social Media Trolls

October 27,2024

Popular fashion designer, Victoria Atere, better known as Veekee James, is no stranger to online criticism.

While she’s often been the target of negative comments about her public displays of affection with her husband, Femi, the designer has typically maintained a dignified silence.

However, a recent comment on her Instagram post seems to have pushed her to her limit. On October 23, 2024, a user named iambukacavity commented, “It is filter and wig that helps this woman.”

In a surprising response, James fired back, “It is just clear that you are not purpose-driven or success-driven. You don’t care whether or not you succeed at anything because do I look like someone who would be ashamed of coming out on social media with my natural face?”

She continued, advising the troll and others like them to redirect their negative energy elsewhere. “You cannot shame the shameless, I am 100 per cent shameless. I would be unapologetically me, anytime and any day.”

James concluded her response with a strong message, stating, “So if someone makes a video that is likely to inspire other people who might be getting body-shamed or talked down about their looks, you guys don’t think that is great? Because I’m wondering why most of you would think that just because I responded to this comment out of the hundreds of negative comments I get every day, then it means I’m explaining. At the end of the day, most of you are just like the trolls with the way you think you can control people to do things your way! You all please bother about your own selves! I know my people and my people know me! If you have a problem with this post, check yourself!”
