Mercy Otiaba Wins the 4th Miss Aviation Nigeria Empowerment Initiative
The 4th Miss Aviation Nigeria Empowerment Initiative, a flagship program of the Maman Aviaworld Initiative, took center stage on November 21, 2024, at the prestigious Sheba Centre in Ikeja, Lagos.

The event brought together vibrant young talents to celebrate empowerment and spotlight career opportunities in Nigeria’s aviation industry.
The evening began with a lively red-carpet session at 4:00 pm, setting the tone for the main event, which commenced at 5:00 pm. After an engaging and competitive showcase among eight finalists, Mercy Otiaba emerged as the winner of the 4th Miss Aviation Nigeria Empowerment Initiative, earning well-deserved recognition for her poise, intellect, and talent.
Chiemelie Nnadozie claimed the 1st Runner-Up position, while Grace Omaruke Oshiname secured the 2nd Runner-Up title.
An initiative by the Maman Aviaworld Initiative, the competition goes beyond a beauty pageant. It is a strategic platform designed to empower youth, particularly young women, through mentorship, skills development, and advocacy for greater access to aviation careers. Recognizing the financial challenges associated with the aviation industry, the program champions support systems to enable aspiring professionals to pursue their dreams.
The finalists were uniquely named after aviation call signs, symbolizing precision, excellence, and dedication—the core values of the aviation profession. Their performances highlighted not only their individual abilities but also their shared commitment to breaking boundaries and driving change in a traditionally male-dominated sector.
At the culmination of the event:
Miss Foxtrot (Mercy Otiaba) took the crown as the 4th Miss Aviation Nigeria Empowerment Initiative.
Miss Alpha (Chiemelie Nnadozie) emerged as 1st Runner-Up.
Miss Golf (Grace Omaruke Oshiname) earned 2nd Runner-Up honors.
Other finalists who shone brightly included Dorathy Timbri Tyokegh (Miss Delta), Nkemakonam Cynthia Amaizu (Miss Charlie), Confidence Ololade Ajayi (Miss Echo), and Nicole Chinonye Chukwu (Miss Bravo).
In her closing remarks, Ololade Adenekan, Convener of the Maman Aviaworld Initiative, expressed her pride in the program’s growing impact:
“This initiative reflects our commitment to nurturing young talent and increasing awareness of opportunities in aviation. By creating platforms like this, we empower the next generation to dream big, overcome obstacles, and excel in this dynamic industry.”
The event was made possible with the support of sponsors such as NBJ Ground Handling Ltd., Etam Avitat Services Ltd., Viva Jets, Lush Travels, and Royal Arts Academy.
The Miss Aviation Nigeria Empowerment Initiative continues to set the stage for future aviators, inspiring young people to explore and thrive in aviation careers while fostering empowerment and inclusivity.
