ThisAbility 4.0: Empowering voices, celebrating abilities

Raising Star Africa Foundation, in partnership with Premium Power Solutions and Air Peace Limited, has hosted the fourth edition of its awareness and advocacy event, ThisAbility 4.0.

With the theme “Empowering Voices,” the event hosted nine public inclusive schools together over 470 participants, including 240 students with disabilities, 30 students without disabilities, parents, caregivers, teachers, corporate sponsors, government officials, and media partners in a powerful celebration of ability, inclusion, and advocacy.

Held at The Darlington Hall, ThisAbility 4.0 featured a range of inclusive and empowering activities designed to spotlight the talents, voices, and entrepreneurial spirit of persons with disabilities.

The panel session featured four experts in disability inclusion: Mr. Kola Olugbodi, Ms. Folashade Salimonu, Mr. Muyiwa Majekodunmi, and Mrs. Uduak Iwok, who tackled issues such as inclusive education, discrimination, and parental support.

They also shared deeply personal stories, offering both inspiration and actionable strategies to parents and educators.

Parents in attendance testified that the session renewed their hope, answered lingering questions, and empowered them with tools which will better support their children.

At ThisAbility 4.0, seven schools participated in a vibrant talent competition that highlighted the incredible creativity of students with disabilities – from visual arts to crafts and expressive performance.

Luke Marvelous, a visually gifted student, emerged winner for his portrait of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Air Peace Limited and Mrs. Ezinne Okonkwo, CEO of DewDropCakes, rewarded him with ₦100,000 each for his effort.

The Art Exhibition was more than a showcase – it was a powerful statement of visibility, creativity, and inclusion.

Led by Ejiroghene Udu, EMBA, Hon. Mobolaji A. Ogunlende, Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, and Mr. Ikenna Nnabuife, Marketing Manager of Air Peace Limited, the exhibition featured stunning works by students with disabilities, vendors, and past grantees with disabilities — all proudly presenting their skills to the world. All sponsors purchased the art and household items from the vendors with disabilities and schools.

10 entrepreneurs with disabilities were supported with grants for business development. Premium Power Solutions supported five entrepreneurs, Innocent Chukwuemeka Chukwuma Empowerment Foundation (ICCEF) supported three entrepreneurs, HIS Towers, and First EandP.

Sponsors of the event include Premium Power Solutions, Aliko Dangote Foundation, NNPC, First EandP, IHS Towers, ICCEF, BIC, Milo, UAC Foods, Chivita, and Tedbree.
